More history;  Leave it to the Italians; over 180 years ago they finally dug up an area that had historic Roman column partially jutting out from the ground.  When they excavated a portion of the area they realized there was a treasure trove of artifacts below. 

As they continued digging they uncovered the entire Roman Forum including the famed Roman Senate. When I finally saw the Roman Senate for the first time it was not as large as I imagined.  It happened to be a fraction in the size of the Pantheon.  The final excavation of The Roman Forum was as large as five football fields.  .
