Chianti and San Gimignano are very quaint 15th century towns and both are worth seeing. This part of Tuscany is several hours from Florence by car. Everything is green like Ireland but Tuscany is mountainous. When you arrive at San Gimignano, it is on a steep hill which gave the citizens the hometown advantage when the city was under siege. You can do a day trip here easily and will enjoy the car ride going back up and down the mountainside. You will wish you were an Italian living in Florence and having your country home there.
